I did 33 days without alcohol and here’s what I noticed:

- Better sleep

- Less anxiety

- More motivation

- Cooked healthier meals

- Started taking more vitamins

- Read more books

- Better workouts

- More creativity

- Drank hot tea at night

- Felt all the feels, but knew it was genuinely how I felt and not influenced by booze

I made this commitment to myself because I wanted to make a healtheir change in my life. I decided eliminating alcohol for a specific period of time was how I was going to do it. I wanted to challenge and discipline myself.

When I decide I’m doing something, I go for it wholeheartedly.

I definitely prepared myself for it because believe it or not, cleansing alcohol from my diet wasn’t necessarily hard for me, it was more about being disciplined. I was super motivated to keep this promise to myself.

Prior to doing Sober October, I drank 1-2 times per week mainly on the weekends. As I’ve grown older my hangovers, anxiety, energy, etc have gotten really gnarly.

Moving forward I’m not promising myself or anyone else that I’m not going to have a glass or two of wine or a few spicy margs, but I’m definitely going to be a lot more mindful. There’s nothing like feeling more happy and healthy and treating my body and mind the same way.

Have you thought about doing something similar?
