3 Times I Turned a NO Into a YES

💭Sometimes it’s so easy to get discouraged by the word “No.” But, it’s really all about how you look at it.⁣⠀

“No” can mean, “not right now.” No can also mean “this is not for you” or “there is something greater for you.”✨⁣⠀

➡️There have been so many times I’ve been turned down from a job or audition.

🦋Here are 3 examples that stick out in my mind that have actually led to a YES to better my life.

❌No #1 in 2004: Alice in Wonderland Theatre Audition.

✅Yes #1: Clara in the Nutcracker.

💃The same week I was turned down from the Alice and Wonderland audition, I earned the role of Clara in the Nutcracker at my dance studio. This was meant to be and something I will never forget. 💯I had no idea the Nutcracker auditions were the same week! The role of Clara meant so much more to me. I still consider this a wonderful accomplishment.

❌No #2 in 2014: 76ers & Brooklyn Nets Dance Teams.

✅Yes #2 in 2014: Washington Wizards Dancers.

This is one of the BIGGEST experiences that speaks to me! 🌟👯‍♀️When I graduated college, my goal was not only to find a big girl job, but was mostly to make a professional NBA dance team. I concentrated on this goal more than I did finding a job. 😂 LOL! This is another instance where a “no” means “something else is greater for you.” ❤️💙I’m still dancing for the Wizards 6 years later and I couldn’t be more grateful for my experience, best friends, Coach, teammates, opportunities, and more.

❌No #3 in 2017: 305 Fitness.

✅Yes #3 in 2017: Flybarre.

After I decided to leave my full time job, I knew I had to find something else I was passionate about, play to my strengths and supplement a lot of my income. This is where fitness came in! 💖💪🏼✨I loved working out and I loved taking classes, but besides teaching dance, I had no real professional experience in teaching fitness. I didn’t let this stop me. I first auditioned for 305 Fitness, a popular dance cardio workout. I didn’t get the gig.

➡️Next I auditioned for Flybarre at Flywheel Sports. I am so grateful they took a chance on me! Almost 3 years later, I couldn’t imagine being a part of a better fitness community both clients, instructors, and leaders included. 💕I value everything I’ve learned about fitness, the human body, community and coaching at Fly.
